@TheVisitor967 - You have the actress wrong. Keisha Castle Hughes was on Whale Rider. This actress is Q'orianka Kilcher who was in the New World.... s movie does a good depiction of the forced annexation of Hawaii at gunpoint and their last heir's attempt to assist her people. For a smaller budget film, the filmmakers did an excellent job maximizing what they could to depict the era. Full Review

Considering this film was made on a shoestring budget, I thought it was the best it could have been. The actress who potrayed the Prncess was... ional. (She received an Oscar nomination for her performance in The Whale Rider.) The cinematography was breathtaking. I often wondered how accurate the story was (as I do for most movies like this)--but it had its share of the good and bad guys on both sides. I was glad that Dole turned out to be a good guy.
