The movie ultimately reveals itself as a pretender with no balls. Creatively, it's all wet. show more

    Mick LaSalle San Francisco Chronicle

Sanctum is by no means a badly made movie, but it has the feel of one of those dramatic re-enactments made exclusively for Imax theaters. show more

A documentary on the formation of stalagmites would have been more compelling. show more

Sanctum is far from a good movie, just as 3-D is far from the movie industry's savior. But it certainly looks good, and watching it through those plastic glasses reopens your eyes to the promise of the third dimension. show more

Grisly stuff. The movie, shot in Australia with an Aussie and British cast, makes "127 Hours" look like a walk in the park. show more

If you're able to think of characters as just air bubbles to get past, then dive in, the excitement's fine. show more

    Michael Rechtshaffen The Hollywood Reporter

Banal dialogue, over-modulated performances and melodramatic scoring combine forces to sink the stirringly photographed proceedings quicker than that treacherous flash flood. show more

The supposition, maybe, is that in an alleged thrill ride of a movie like this one, the words aren't supposed to matter. show more

Although it's true that a father/son relationship lies at Sanctum's emotional core, the movie is at its best when it highlights the defiance of the protagonists to yield to despair and give up. show more

    Roger Moore Orlando Sentinel

It's a solid, old-fashioned action yarn filled with the very latest dive gear and the oldest plot formula in the movie-maker's playbook. show more

Pretty good movie, had me sitting on the edge of my seat near the end because of the decisions some of the characters made in the story

As real as scuba diving in a cave without the risk!. The 3D does it!

The movie STUNK! I can't believe that James Cameron could produce Titanic -- a SMASH HIT -- and then this disaster. Save your money ---It's barely good enough for DVD. The best part was the 3-D----

Classic filmmaking ************ best. Rings true to anyone who has ever ventured into the wilds of nature. I wager none of the critics who assassinated this film have ever left the comfort of their "cotton wool" armchairs.

SUCKED so BAD !!!!!! Save your money !! The dialog between the characters was so elementary, it was mind numbing. There was no plot, there was no character development, the characters were unlikeable and it was over before it even started. I thought the 3D effects were better in the coming attractions. Seriously, don't even watch it on netflix.....

My husband and I loved the movie but we both climb and cave. They did a good job portraying these activities. We also read the true account and the only thing this movie had in common with it was hair caught in the rapel device and a huge cave.
