Plot Summary
Drugstore worker Peggy Evans (Lana Turner), fed up with the monotony of her small-town job, grabs her life's savings and flees to New York City in search of a new identity. Suspected of driving Peggy to suicide after her disappearance, her boss, Bob Stuart (Robert Young), trails his former employee to the city, where she's trying to pass herself off as the long-lost daughter of wealthy Cornelius Burden (Walter Brennan). Sparks fly between Bob and Peggy as he sets out to prove she's a fake.
