    Mick LaSalle San Francisco Chronicle

As far as complete wastes of time go, Zookeeper is not especially offensive. Yet it is surprising that everything you might expect to be charming in it just isn't - namely all the bits involving animals. show more

    Scott Bowles USA Today

There isn't much in the way of plot to get in the way of Sandler's world: There's poo, ripped pants and hot girls falling for fat guys. show more

  • 38
    David Hiltbrand Philadelphia Inquirer

The film would be a moth-eaten mess without the wisecracking animals. Not that it's funny with them. show more

Joe Neumaier New York Daily News

A children's comedy about talking animals that feels as if it were written by children or, perhaps, by talking animals. show more

    Todd McCarthy The Hollywood Reporter

Although one would never have expected to find her in a film like this, Dawson, by dint of enthusiasm, is the only actor who rises above the material with her dignity intact. show more

    Michelle Orange Movieline

The talking animals, though less tough to look at than those in "Marmaduke," are murder on the ears: Maya Rudolph as a neurotic giraffe and Sandler voicing a monkey could take the paint off of a Buick. show more

    Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times

It's not the romcom that's so entertaining, anyway; it's the slapstick. show more

    Washington Post

Pratfalls and agonizing tumbles appear to be James's business, and man, business is booming. show more

    Roger Moore Orlando Sentinel

James takes his comic lumps like a man. His Griffin suffers injuries and indignities and lets us laugh at him as he does. No matter where the script wanders and where the direction founders, at some point, James' comic instincts take over. And this time, they don't let him down. show more

    Mark Feeney Boston Globe

As for other voices, the most notable are Adam Sandler, whose capuchin monkey wears out his welcome pretty quickly; Maya Rudolph, whose jivey giraffe comes perilously close to aural blackface; and Nick Nolte's gorilla. show more

A baby giraffe DIED during the making of this film. If all the profits from this death flick don\'t go to animal rescue groups, SHAME on all involved. F these bastards! NOT ONE PENNY for non-human animal exploitation. They are not someTHINGS, they are someBODIES.

This movie is great! I am 24 and have a young sence of humor. It kept my fiance and I rolling the whole time. It is great to guess all of the stars who are playing the animals! Will own when out on dvd!!! 2 thumbs up.

Good for kids; ridiculous for adults. Much better than The Smurfs, though.

It was a decent movie. Huge Kevin James fan, but the talking animals, even though special effects did a great job, just didn\'t work for me.

Personally thought it was the worst movie this year. I did not find any reason to laugh during this movie. Completely stupid! Very disapointed.
