    Peter Travers Rolling Stone

In this cheerfully perverse origin tale of Magneto, Professor X and their mutant team, Vaughn delivers a fireworks display of action, smarts and fun, plus a touch of class from actors who can really act. show more

    Amy Biancolli San Francisco Chronicle

Uneven, occasionally silly, true, but it's also an improvement over 2006's "X-Men: The Last Stand." show more

This X- Men is indeed first class: an exciting, bold and thoroughly enjoyable summer blockbuster. show more

    Joe Morgenstern Wall Street Journal

This prequel draws new energy from supersmart casting, plus the shrewd notion of setting the beginnings of the X-Men saga in the early 1960s. show more

    Steven Rea Philadelphia Inquirer

An elaborate origins story with more datelines than an issue of Condé Nast Traveler (Oxford! Miami! Argentina! Poland!), X-Men: First Class has some fun trying to explain how Professor X, Magneto, and all those mopey mutants came to be. show more

Elizabeth Weitzman New York Daily News

It's big, bright, savvy, and so expansive you'll undoubtedly leave feeling you got your money's worth. show more

    Todd McCarthy The Hollywood Reporter

Audacious, confident and fueled by youthful energy. show more

So while X-Men: First Class at first takes its source material with just the right amount of self-deprecating seriousness, it founders in the second half, when it becomes overburdened with squirrelly plot mechanics and an excess of self-evident dialogue. show more

    Scott Tobias NPR

It's not the artistry of X-Men: First Class that's particularly striking; though it's finely crafted, the film feels less the product of a visionary director than of the Marvel movies machine working at maximum efficiency. show more

    Lawrence Toppman Charlotte Observer

Most of the actors live their roles, and Fassbender (Rochester in the last "Jane Eyre") is superb as the wolflike, undisciplined assassin. show more

X-Men: First Class was amazing. I don\'t care what anyone said. James McAoy and Michael F. were just wonderful. I really wish they would have a second part to this. It would rack in so many viewers if you ask me. :D It was epically perfect!!

I think the trailers were so bad it may have hurt the openning weekend for this movie but the movie itself works well and was very entertaining. I like james mcavoy but as hard as I try I cant picture him growing into patrick stewart. Once you get over that the movie is very cool and kevin bacon was a true surprise I look forward to the next one

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. They did a great job of making a serious, but not \"dark\"(i.e. Dark Knight) comic book movie, something which has eluded studios for years. But don\'t worry it\'s not TOO serious, it\'s still a fun movie to watch.

I liked it a lot. Glad i watched it instead of Hangover 2 or transformers...although i\'ll eventually end up watching those.
