Classics never go out of style, but they can be refreshed for a new generation.

Netflix unveiled the trailer for its remake of Norman Lear's iconic comedy "One Day at a Time." In the new version, Justina Machado plays the single mom role made famous by Bonnie Franklin in the original series. And this time, mom is a military veteran raising a radical teen daughter (Isabella Gomez) and socially adept tween son (Marcel Ruiz). Luckily, the legendary Rita Moreno is on hand to help.Lear serves as an executive producer on the remake, which looks heartwarming and moving, with some gentle sarcastic humor. There's some workplace comedy, with Stephen Toblowsky playing Machado's boss, and romance, too, with Todd Grinnell as a love interest. And of course, expect updated, modern-day issues and obstacles to pop up.

All 13 episodes begin streaming January 6 on Netflix.
