How do you want Tyrion Lannister's story to end on "Game of Thrones"?

Maybe it's a trick question, since many of us don't want Tyrion's story to end at all. But we will say goodbye next year after Season 8's six episodes (finally) air on HBO.

So what do you hope happens to Peter Dinklage's character?

Dinklage is now promoting his upcoming HBO movie, "My Dinner with Hervè," but in every interview he's also asked about the final season of "Game of Thrones," which has completed filming.

Entertainment Tonight asked Dinklage how he felt about the way GoT ended; here's his response:

"There are no better writers in television than [showrunners] Dan Weiss and David Benioff. They ended it brilliantly. Better than I could have imagined, and you people are in for it."

We're in for it, all right. What about the way it ends for his character -- Tyrion -- in particular?

"It ends beautifully for my character, whether it be tragic or not."

Tragic or not.

Well, as long as Tyrion still drinks and knows things right up until the end, we can't ask for much more.

There are spoilery theories about Tyrion, and potential drama ahead between Tyrion, Dany, and Jon. But other than that -- and set spoilers floating around the Internet, which we're choosing to ignore -- we just have the vague teases of actors like Dinklage and co-stars.

We've been warned that not everyone will be happy with how the series ends, but we've also been promised that the show ends the right way, with all of the pieces fitting.

"Game of Thrones" Season 8 will start in the first half of 2019 on HBO. "My Dinner with Hervè" premieres October 20 on HBO.
