Kate Winslet Returning to HBO for Limited Series 'Mare of Easttown'
Kate Winslet is returning to HBO for the first time since winning a boatload of awards for 2011's "Mildred Pierce."
She is set to executive produce and star in the limited series "Mare of Easttown," which was written by Brad Ingelsby. Gavin O’Connor will direct all the episodes. Ingelsby and O'Connor previously collaborated on the Ben Affleck film "Torrance."
Winslet will play a small-town Pennsylvania detective who investigates a local murder case at a time when her own life is crumbling around her.
The actress previously starred in HBO's "Mildred Pierce," a miniseries adapted by Todd Haynes. She won an Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award for her performance.
Winslet is just the latest high-profile star that HBO was wooed to its limited series.Amy Adams and Patricia Clarkson are SAG Award nominees for "Sharp Objects." And this year brings the second season of "Big Little Lies," which adds Meryl Streep to a cast that already features Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and Laura Dern.
