Every move Hoffman makes subtly rivets attention. There's the uncanny German accent, the boozing, the chain-smoking, the glances at his assistant (Nina Hoss), the secret life he keeps hidden and the betrayals even Günther can't see coming. Hoffman is simply magnificent. Face it. We won't see his like again. show more

Now, thanks to A Most Wanted Man, we discover that it's really boring - practically sleep-inducing - to be an international spy. show more

While the tension is sometimes muted, this is more than a procedural round of spy games. The deliberately paced but riveting film is made all the better because of Hoffman's breathtakingly nuanced portrayal. show more

This has to be the most boring movie I have ever seen. It's been four hours since it ended and I'm still trying to figure out what is was suppose to be about. If I wouldn't have read the preview just now, I wouldn't have known the reason he was trying to get that man. And although this is Hoffmans last picture, and they say it was his best acting, it certainly is not worthy of any awards.

Tedious, way too long, 2 out of 10 at best. Just no hook .... judging from the total lack of any "buzz" at the end, I suspect most in the very packed theater were left wanting with this movie. waste of money in my opinion.

for once a spy story I was able to follow, even with all the characters---it is slowly paced as many scenes could have been trimmed but nonetheless, a good story, excellent acting---I should have counted how many cigarettes PSH lit up during the movie---it was constant and he does look like death warmed over--- B grade
