Plot Summary
Based on events surrounding the bombing of Hiroshima, Japan, during World War II, this drama depicts the nuclear explosion and its effects, as viewed by survivors of various nationalities. Among the people featured in the film are German priest Father Siemes (Max von Sydow), Japanese physician Dr. Hara (Stan Egi) and American soldier Pete Dunham (Judd Nelson). With its ensemble cast, the movie calls attention to the international presence in the city at the time of the bombing.
