    Amy Biancolli San Francisco Chronicle

Even within the rules of its own peculiar world - a world well stocked with talking savanna denizens and monkey-powered superplanes - the film is completely irrational. show more

    Claudia Puig USA Today

Hardly fresh, but it never stints on energy or vivid colors. show more

    Joe Morgenstern Wall Street Journal

Madagascar 3 is all about exuberant motion, cute characters and gorgeous colors. It aims for the eyes, not the heart. show more

Joe Neumaier New York Daily News

Madagascar 3 can't upgrade its own shtick, becoming a craven example of a fast-buck, no-fun family film. show more

    Todd McCarthy The Hollywood Reporter

Yes, it's a cartoon, but it's conspicuously unmodulated, with the volume set on high and the pacing all but pushed to fast-forward. show more

    Michelle Orange Movieline

Manages to surprise with a charm and wit all its own. show more

    Michael O'Sullivan Washington Post

It's a kid's Cirque de Soleil, for a lot less money. show more

    Jaime N. Christley Slant Magazine

In spite of its lazy, cookie-cutter screenplay, simple narrative mechanics are only dutifully observed to the extent that they step aside to make way for numerous flights of madness. show more

    Tom Russo Boston Globe

You can picture the DreamWorks corporate confab: "OK, the kids respond to move-it, move-it repetition - give us something else repetitive, and let's get herding." It wasn't just desperate, it was insulting. show more

For many adults, sitting through this will be an exercise in tedium. It offers about as much as an oversized, overlong Saturday morning cartoon and if that's where expectations are set, it probably won't disappoint. Talk about setting the bar low, though. show more

I think they should have quit after the last film. The characters have gotten way too predictable and the jokes stale. As in the previous movies the penguins and the lemur carry the film and there is not enough of them in this latest movie. Even the kids got restless in this one.

My family went to see this the first weekend it was out. I have two daughters ages 5,9 and both LOVED it. There might be some far fetched things like the animals swimming from Africa to Monte Carlo but the humor in the movie was funny for both kids AND adults. We will definitely be getting the movie when it comes out on DVD/Blue Ray.

i was very disappointed. the best parts of the movie were the trailer bits. the worst of the three movies. My 10 year old asked to leave three times and several people left the movie half way thru.
