I rented this movie this weekend and have loved it, the music is great. I had heard that Tom Cruise did his own singing and I think he was great. At first it was hard to believe him as a Rock Star, but I watched it several times and I got into it. I was very pleased with his singing and I guess since I am older I related to him more than the young couple I enjoyed it for the music, music,
LOVED it! Made me smile. So put away your judgments...it's pure entertainment.
This was the saddest attempt of an 80's Rock & Roll movie ever. It was a musical from start to finish with no story line and terrible covers of songs that deserve more respect. It actually made me nauseated watching it in the theater. I couldn't wait for it to end!!!!!!
This is the dumbest movie ever. If you like just listening too Kareoke ok. No story line, or theme.
watching it right now.. enjoying the hell out of it and i am 60

Doesn't require anyone to love metal, or even like it. It only requires us to laugh at it - and other exemplars of bloated '80s pop, from Starship to Journey - and it does so with a campy and attitudinous spirit that's hard to resist. Full Review

Rock of Ages gets too mired in plotty cul de sacs, manufactured setbacks and numbers that are all staged as show-stoppers. In the words of the Journey song that serves as a climactic singalong, it goes on and on and on and on. Full Review

Don't stop believing. Just avoid clichéd musicals that try to capture the anarchic spirit of rock with trite commercial re-treads. Full Review

What's not fine is the dead zone occupied by the monster of the piece, Tom Cruise's veteran rocker, Stacee Jaxx. Full Review
