A tasty swig of holiday cheer. show more

The film is too intelligent and well-crafted to dismiss and too good to hate. Some people will love it, and at worst, most people will like it a little. show more

Sentiment is at its heart. The legions who grew up on Disney's Mary Poppins will find it delightfully satisfying to hear snippets of its enormously catchy songs and watch its captivating creative journey. show more

Edges have been softened, harshness has been transformed into happiness sprinkled with eccentricity. And the paradox, of course, is that we're glad to be seduced. As Disney films go, this is a good one. show more

Saving Mr. Banks, set in 1961, is smart, delightful. show more

Joe Neumaier New York Daily News

The slick but moving Saving Mr. Banks transcends its corporate pedigree to become a great Disney movie about making a Disney movie. show more

    Leslie Felperin The Hollywood Reporter

Taken strictly on its own terms, Saving Mr. Banks works exceedingly well as mainstream entertainment. show more

Saving Mr. Banks does end in tears, but they're Disney tears, as befits a movie about Disney made by Disney. Which doesn't mean you shouldn't see this beguiling piece of pop storytelling, built on half-truths whipped into shape for a storybook ending that never was. show more

There’s charm and delight here, to be sure, but it is occasionally obscured by attempts to make it somehow darker, deeper, and more dramatic. show more

Taken on its own, Saving Mr. Banks is a pleasant, crowd-pleasing endeavor. For those with a soft spot for Mary Poppins, however, it's a treasure. show more

This is a brilliantly acted film that surprised and moved me in unexpected ways. It demonstrates how early events in mold us and the power of healing.

Let me start by saying I\'m very familiar with \"Mary Poppins\" the movie, but haven\'t read any of the books. After seeing this movie and doing a little research on PL Travers, it makes me wonder how much of the story is hers, and how much is Walt\'s brilliance at telling a story. Definitely worth see

This was a good movie but it would have been much better if it didn\'t go out of its way to show us what a Jerk the lady that wrote Mary Poppins was. We didn\'t have to know in that much of detail!

Excellence in story telling. Emma Thompson is magnificent. Could have made Hanks look older but otherwise near perfect.

These are some of the best actors I know. They are wonderful in a good movie about a \"HO-HUM\" topic. High expectations for all this talent, and I was bored.

Emma Thompson is brilliant! The movie is well directed, acted and written and, above all, entertaining. It\'s worth a visit.

The critics are much too jaded to see the real story here. This is as much about the wonder Walt Disney saw in each of his projects as much as it is about the back story of Mary Poppins. Brilliant movie and you won\'t leave the theater without a smile on your face and a tear in your eye.
