Under the command of Flavius Aquila in A.D. 120, Rome's Ninth Legion marches north carrying its revered eagle emblem and vanishing into the mists. Rumors of the legion's golden eagle appearing in a tribal temple reach Marcus Aquila (Channing Tatum), Flavius' son, 20 years later. I\'m interested in all things Roman, but usually I get the days of the Republic as subject matter. Not only is this movie in the era of \"The Gladiator,\" I thought it a much better story line: Honor and loyalty. The scenery is gorgeous and the theme is well played by all (especially Tatum and Jamie Bell as the slave Esca). I would recommend this movie to anyone interested in early Romans living anywhere but Italy. It is a history lesson easy to absorb.

Loved the movie! Loved also the attention to detail, except for one little detail. The two brown horses the stars were riding suddenly turned into a beautiful white one and a black Fresian war horse once they reached the woods. How could anyone miss that faux pas?
