Through it all, Tatum tries like crazy to Act. His eyes pinch. His brow scrunches. Most of all, he clenches his jaw, little creases of muscle flexing below his ears as he labors to emote. show more

What it became was bad. A movie that hopes to blend "Lethal Weapon" with "Gladiator" winds up not being a fraction of either. show more

Though not deep, the movie is diverting. show more

This old-fashioned sword-and-sandal drama has all the bread and circuses we've come to know from the movies. It flirts with interesting story choices, but ultimately, all roads lead to boredom. show more

The Eagle is an engaging, if straightforward and one-dimensional. show more

What he's missing in The Eagle is that spark of the insane - the slightly lunatic fever that makes us unable to keep our eyes off him (Channing Tatum). show more

A rip-snorting adventure tale of the sort made before CGI, 3-D and alphabet soup in general took the fun out of moviegoing. show more

An honest, basic story set forth with brevity, skill, care and intelligence. show more

The Eagle becomes more interesting the further north it travels. show more

It's pure speculation on the filmmakers' part that Gaelic pagans were adorned with bones, blue mud and Mohawks, but the fire-dancing spectacle is a welcome respite from the beefcake of the journey scenes. show more

I\'m interested in all things Roman, but usually I get the days of the Republic as subject matter. Not only is this movie in the era of \"The Gladiator,\" I thought it a much better story line: Honor and loyalty. The scenery is gorgeous and the theme is well played by all (especially Tatum and Jamie Bell as the slave Esca). I would recommend this movie to anyone interested in early Romans living anywhere but Italy. It is a history lesson easy to absorb.

Loved the movie! Loved also the attention to detail, except for one little detail. The two brown horses the stars were riding suddenly turned into a beautiful white one and a black Fresian war horse once they reached the woods. How could anyone miss that faux pas?

This movie was awful! I had such high hopes for the film, but it became downright comical in some parts. Better luck next time Kevin MacDonald!

This movie is weak. I nearly feel asleep. It was too slow for me. I thought there would be more battles and action. I wouldn't even bother to rent this one.

This is a bad movie and I don't me bad as in good. It rips off so many movies and the plot sucks. There is lots of walking around with no dialogue like Harry Potter. Most of the Scots paint themselves blue like Avatar. The limited fighting is done in flash shot. It is a quest movies in search of nothing. It is boring. Historical references are really stretched. Don't even bother with the DVD.
