Michael Melchiorre Biography

Michael Melchiorre is a visual effects supervisor at Digital Domain, where over the past two decades he has established himself as both a compositing supervisor and a visual effects supervisor. His compositing expertise can be traced through a substantial roster of film and episodic projects, including Real Steel (2011), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Terminator: Dark Fate (2019), Black Widow (2021), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

Beyond film, he played pivotal roles in television and streaming productions, serving as compositing supervisor on The Mandalorian (2023, Season 3) and ascending to visual effects supervisor for Ahsoka (2023, Season 1), where he helped craft a battle sequence in the Red Forest. His evolution to visual effects supervisor marked a significant expansion in responsibility.

One high-profile example was She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022), where he won a Telly Award in 2023 for Best Visual Effects. In this role, he helped bring the titular character to life through around 45 minutes of photorealistic, emotionally expressive, CG-animated performance that exceeded expectations for episodic production quality. His contributions also include compositing work on the video game Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, for which he received a Telly Award in 2020 for Best Compositing.

Michael has also earned recognition within his professional community. He was nominated twice for prestigious Visual Effects Society (VES) Awards: first for Outstanding Compositing in a Photoreal Episode for Black Sails (2017), and later for Outstanding Compositing and Lighting in a Feature for Black Widow (2022). Michael served as a visual effects supervisor for Agatha All Along (2024), the WandaVision (2021) spin-off miniseries, where Digital Domain served as lead vendor.

He supervised effects for key moments such as the “Witches’ Road” and magical combat sequences. He also contributed as compositing supervisor on Captain America: Brave New World (2025).
