Filmmakers Launch Second Annual Teen Hollywood Film Festival
Last year, twin entrepreneurs Carson and Carrington Bennett launched a film festival run entirely by teens and for teens--and they're doing it again.
The 16-year-old brothers' C&C Teen Hollywood Film Festival will recognize young budding filmmakers on Nov. 7 in Canoga Park, Calif. The festival is sponsored by actress Angela Bassett, among others.
Working on both sides of the camera, the Bennett brothers say they want the festival to help teens, ranging in ages 13-19, hone their film industry business skills at an early age in the areas of marketing, promotion, fundraising, social media, as well as the technical side of showbiz, like production, sound, editing and photography.
Screenings of independent films and an awards ceremony for short films submitted in categories for drama, comedy, documentaries and music videos are also a part of the program.
Among the special guests, "Maze Runner" actor Dexter Darden will speak about his film career, and other attendees include Angela Bassett, Lorraine Toussaint ("Orange Is the New Black"), Tichina Arnold ("Everybody Hates Chris"), Reno Wilson ("Mike & Molly"), Leah Lewis ("Gamer's Guide to Pretty Much Everything"), Clifton Powell ("Ray") and recording artist Heart Hays ("Straight for the Heart").
