Miller's monochrome palette, splashed with color that shines like a whore's lip gloss, doesn't startle as it once did. It's like running into an ex-love and realizing that, damn, the thrill is gone. show more
As an exercise in style, it's diverting enough, but these mean streets are so well traveled that it takes someone like Eva Green to make the detour through them worth the trip. show more
For a film loaded with decapitations and gun-toting ladies in bondage gear, Sin City gets really tedious really quickly. show more

Am I the only one who watched this movie? Should I be embarrassed?
Three solid stars. Not as good as the first one. Wait for this one to come out on DVD. All the usual and colorful characters you would expect are present and accounted for. Plenty of "real men, action and hot babes", but as much as I would think it would not matter it was missing the strong main plot that the first one had that kept my interest from beginning to end. If I never saw the first Sin City, this would get an extra star for its novelty. But we have all seen this before and they should have had a stronger main plot with more on the line than people's egos. Perhaps too much time and money went into the 3D effects of this movie and they skimped on the writing.
