Bacem Anas Romdhani Biography

Bacem Anas Romdhani emerged from Tunisia as a child prodigy in the early 20's. He is a Tunisian-British classical violinist rapidly becoming one of the most sought-after artists of his generation to proudly represent the Arab musical elite. Highlights of his career include being the first Arab classical artist to be in the semi-final of the Queen's 'Windsor Festival International String Competition' 2021 (UK), winning 3rd prize at the 'Vienna New Year's Concert International Music Competition' 2021 and winning 1st prize at the 'Vatelot-Rampal International Violin Competition' 2007 (Paris) before turning 12.

He made his debut performance at the Wigmore Hall (London) in 2014. Aged nine, Bacem Anas was invited by the Tunisian Symphony Orchestra to make his solo debut. This early exposure to the Tunisian public peaked the interest of multi-award winning Tunisian film producer Hichem Ben Ammar, which later developed into a documentary depicting Bacem Anas' musical journey over the next four years.

Aged ten, He won the 'World Philharmonic Orchestra Competition' in Paris and represented Tunisia, Africa & the Arab world as part of the 'Five children of the world'. His early musical journey is chronicled in his multi-award winning documentary 'Once Upon Our Time' 2010. Bacem Anas' early success came to the attention of the president of the Tunisian Republic, where he received an Honorary award in 2007.

In 2014, Bacem Anas became the first Tunisian classical artist to be appointed by the Tunisian Symphony Orchestra as their 'Solo Artist in Residence'. Coming from an Arab background, Bacem Anas is dedicating his music making to introduce his background music to the Western culture, in an attempt to help bond the arts from both worlds. In 2020, renowned Tunisian classical composer Ouanés Khligène composed a work "Le Voyageur et La Rose" (violin & piano) specially for Bacem Anas Romdhani, and a violin concerto in the making, to be premiered.

Bacem Anas Romdhani was born in Tunis, Tunisia and started his violin studies at the age of five with professor Rachid Koubaa at his father's music school and later with prof. Sem Slimane. He studied at the Conservatoire Zyriab de Musique et de Danse until the age of 11, when he won a full scholarship from The Yehudi Menuhin School and settled in the U.

K. He completed his Bachelor of Music (Hons) in 2018 at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with world renowned pedagogue Simon Fischer. He went on to do a Master in Performance degree at the Royal College of Music with prof. Maciej Rakowski and graduated in 2022 with an Artist Diploma under the tuition of Radu Blidar. Bacem Anas Romdhani plays on a very fine contemporary violin made by Andreas Hellinge, Geneva (1998) made specially for Lord Yehudi Menuhin.
