Jarrad Wright Biography

Jarrad Wright grew up in Tweed Heads on New South Wales' North Coast. In The Big Lez Show Documentary, Wright reveals the first idea of Big Lez as a 'Dragonball Z' type character when he lived on Kingdom Cum. He and Izak came up with his name unanimously based on his super strength and atire. It was from this that Jarrad and his friends started creating comics of Lez and other characters.

During 2008, then Prime Minister of Australia Kevin Rudd introduced free laptops to the majority of high schools in Australia. Wright exploited his opportunity to create his first episode of The Big Lez Show which would become The Volcano Bong. His popularity in school skyrocketed, which persuaded him to keep creating more skits with Lez and his cast of characters.

Wright details he and Tom Hollis envisioned Sassy on their trampoline. He was seen as a sasquatch that overdoses on every drug under the sun, then accuses others of being drug addicts. They both went away and drew their visions of Sassy, with the final Sassy being Tom's drawing and Jarrad's drawing becoming Donny. Wright describes Clarence as a repository of blame, a 'bad luck magnet' and a symbol of the little guy.

Jarrad and his friends produced The Big Lez Show within the Dojo, an old karate dojo located in Tweed Heads. Here they draw all the pictures that eventually encompass every individual frame of the final animation. All the voice recording is also done at the Dojo. Wright describes the crude humour within the show being inspired by Seinfeld. His motivations include his audiences within Australia that understand all the inside jokes, and those internationally that find some comedic enjoyment out of the series.
