It has been 10 years since Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie shared the big screen together, last appearing in "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."

The cinematic reunion for the husband and wife in "By the Sea," a drama written, directed and starring Jolie, was "long overdue," Pitt tells V Magazine, of which he graces its current cover. With Jolie at the helm of the drama, Pitt reveals that he found his comfort zone--and newfound sex appeal in his wife.

"It's surprising how much I enjoy the direction of my wife. She's decisive, incredibly intuitive, knife-sharp, and might I say, sexy at her post. I trust her with my life," Pitt explains. "For this one, I operated on pure instinct. Angie and I have too much history and understanding of each other to question beyond there."

Jolie's “By the Sea” is a retro effort inspired by European cinema of the '60s and '70s. It tells the story of an unhappily married couple (Jolie and Pitt) living in 1970s France in a seaside resort. They examine the problems of their own relationship after interacting with tourists.

"By the Sea" opens the AFI Film Festival Nov. 5 and opens nationwide Nov. 13.
