Even with an Oscar statue on her mantle, Kate Winslet still has to campaign for parts.

When it came to her newest film "Steve Jobs," to convince filmmakers that she was the right fit for Joanna Hoffman, the Apple cofounder's development team employee, Winslet says she had to take some unusual measures to get the script sent her way.

"We started cooking up this plan to get them to send me the script, which at that point they had not done," she reveals Wednesday to Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show." "So I threw my hat in the ring and I let them know that should they choose to send me a script that I would be delighted. So I took a selfie of myself wearing a short dark haired wig and I tried to look Eastern European and much like the real Joanna Hoffman, and I look nothing like her."

"Steve Jobs" chronicles the tech visionary's life - achievements, setbacks and tantrums - over the span of three of Apple's product launches in 1984, 1988 and 1998. Directed by "Slumdog Millionaire" Oscar winner Danny Boyle, the drama, opening Friday, features Michael Fassbender in the eponymous role, Seth Rogen as cofounder Steve Wozniak, and Winslet as a development team member.
