  • A tough-minded, bracingly blunt look at the sometimes debilitating cost of doing business that casts an unblinking eye on the physical, emotional and moral bottom line. show more

  • The pacing, the performances (Albert Brooks is a stand-out as Abel's lawyer), and every facet of the production serves the story and the film's larger ideas. show more

  • A Most Violent Year, Chandor’s absorbing no-bull NYC drama, further clarifies what might be the most promising career in American movies: an urban-headed filmmaker attuned to economies of place and time, with an eye on the vacant throne of Sidney Lumet. show more

i loved .A Most Violent Year" if only because i think Oscar Isaac is worth seeing in anything..This actor has the x factor!!!! He is simply the most exciting, charismatic young actor on the scene today..He is like an Omar Sharif and Al pacino wrapped up in one.. with that said i enjoyed the story telling, the pace, the music and time period of this movie..It also stars Jessica Chastain..these two actors together keep your eyes glued to that screen..
