Fellowship is the real deal, a movie epic that pops your eyes out, piles on thrills and fun, and yet stays intimately attuned to character. show more

Gets it right. It's a wonderful movie. Watching it, one can't help but get the impression that everyone involved was steeped in Tolkien's work, loved the book, treasured it and took care not to break a cherished thing in it. show more

Rings has moments of edge-of-the-seat excitement, too, such as when the dark riders come looking for Frodo. But it's occasionally tedious when it should be captivating. show more

Against all odds in an era of machine-made spectaculars, Mr. Jackson and his collaborators have created a film epic that lives and breathes. show more

But moving across this tableau is Frodo and his gang, and here the trouble lies...Not a one seems believable as conveyed by Wood, who forever looks to be on the brink of a good sob. Likewise, his hobbit sidekick Samwise Gamgee (Sean Astin) is a real wuss. show more

So consistently involving because the excellent cast delivers their lines with the kind of utter conviction not seen in this kind of movie since the first "Star Wars." show more

Not since the original ''Star Wars'' trilogy has film dipped into myth and emerged with the kind of weight and heft seen in Peter Jackson's first installment of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy. show more

I wish they had stayed true to the book and finished the Hobbits homecoming where the fallen wizard sought revenge by trying to destroy their homeland. The movie caused me to read the "Hobbit" which I am eternally grateful. I loved the movie, bought it and the books and watch and read it several times as well as the Simirillian which is the beginning of "Middle Earth". I wonder if they could do the Simirillans. Now that would be the the entire Middle Earth saga. Tolkien was/is fantastic. What a creative mind and wonderful imagination.

One of the best, most amazing movies of all time, rivaled only by the other movies in the trilogy!!! The dialogue is brilliant, the plot awesome (obviously, since it is based on the book), the special effects breathtaking, and the characters amazing (Aragorn!!) This is a must see for all scifi or fantasy fans or anyone just looking for an awesome movie!!!
