Eric Zhang

Born in China, Eric began playing drumkit and piano at the age of five. He took part in the 2013 China National Youth Percussion Competition in Shanghai and in his age group, won first prize in electronic drums and second prize in the acoustic drum category. Eric started his percussion lessons with Mr Chao Gao in 2015. In 2018 he moved to the UK with his family and was offered a scholarship at Chetham’s School of Music to study Solo Percussion with Le Yu, Orchestral Percussion with Paul Patrick and Dave Hext, and World Percussion with Sophie Hastings.
